Course Duration
Learners have 3 years to complete the qualification, though it’s typically finished within one academic year.

CIBTAC offers a lifetime registration fee, and learners receive a unique CIBTAC ID for certification.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- An applicant must be aged 18 or over.
- Hold a Level 3 beauty therapy qualification or the CIBTAC Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Cosmetic Practice.
- Be working in the beauty/aesthetics industry, or be a nurse, doctor, or healthcare professional.
- For learners in England, Core of Knowledge training is required to meet insurance standards. Additionally, learners should typically have:
- 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths, English, and a Core Science.
- One A-Level or equivalent, or a Level 3 accredited qualification in a relevant subject (e.g., Beauty Therapy, Access Course, or Skills for Health bridging program).
PROGRESSION PATHWAYS
This qualification is a natural step after Level 2 or Level 3 beauty therapy courses. It also opens doors to further study, such as:
- Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light for Hair Growth Reduction
- Level 5 Award in Laser Tattoo Removal (offered by CIBTAC and other Ofqual-regulated organizations).
ASSESMENT METHODS
- CIBTAC qualifications are assessed through:
- Multiple Choice Theory Exam
- 70 questions covering mandatory units.
- Results available within 6 weeks of the exam date.
- A minimum score of 60% is required to pass.
- Practical Exam
- A 1-hour 30-minute synoptic assessment conducted by a CIBTAC examiner.
- Evaluates consultation, client care, health and safety, and appearance.
- A minimum score of 60% is required to pass.
- Learners are allowed two resits for unsuccessful units within two years of the initial exam. If unsuccessful after this, learners must re-register and complete the course again.

- An interview will be arranged to further assess your eligibility. If your qualifications do not meet the requirements, you will receive constructive feedback and guidance. If your qualifications are deemed satisfactory, the discussion will focus on relevant topics, including your needs, details of the training program, recognition of prior learning, and contractual terms.
- A formal agreement detailing all terms and conditions related to your participation in the training program will be sent to you via email, accompanied by an invoice for payment.
- Upon receipt of the signed contract and payment, you will be officially enrolled in the program.
